Honestly, there are a lot of ways to make a hot room. Native Americans made sweat lodges out of sticks and hides. In Alaska, I worked on a fishing barge that had a sauna constructed of plywood walls and a cheap wood burning stove. If that’s what you want, go for it. But that’s not Akkala Sauna. Our saunas are made of the highest quality materials using modern construction techniques and the latest technology. Our saunas are low maintenance, will last a very long time, and make great-feeling heat and steam.
Local
We do our very best to source American-made materials and products. Yes, our roots are Finnish, but we’re half-blooded American Finns happily appropriating one of Finland’s greatest cultural exports. Saunas. One of our dreams is to foster a cottage industry of local artisans to supply our merchandise. Stay tuned.
Family
Supporting families is at the core of everything we do. Our family, our workers' families, and our artisans’ families. And hopefully, our saunas will strengthen your family. We strive to make it easy for moms and dads to juggle work and kids, and provide a place for kids to learn the trades.
We like to work. Work is good. Sure, everyone has their moments, but we work hard to create a culture where Monday morning looks as good as Friday afternoon. Life is too short to do otherwise.
